The annual event have been conducted by Habib (Mr) Ahmad Bin Ismail Al-Jaafari, his family and his students for the past 28 years.
During the initial stage, the event was held within the neighbourhood of Bedok Reservoir for the local Muslim community to commemorate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Since then, the event has garnered support from the local Muslim community, the local Islamic religious council and has steadily been known for its multi-racial lunch gathering to celebrate the joyous birthday occasion. An estimated 6 000 members of the public have attended the event annually.
These include residents and staff from various Muslims and non-Muslims Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs) in Singapore. Habib Ahmad hoped that the celebration will also promote racial and religious harmony as well as showing care and concern towards the needy and unfortunate in Singapore.
